Blackjack Variations on 21

Blackjack is one of the standard table games found at almost every casino on Earth. You know the game; the one in which the objective is to get a hand equaling as close to twenty-one as possible. Usually, the player and the dealer are playing with only two cards and those cards must together come as close as possible to twenty-one; this is a standard rule of Blackjack. However, there are a few variations on the regular Blackjack game, and in Multi-Hand Blackjack, the rules change just a little.

Multi-Hand Blackjack

The principle difference between standard Blackjack and Multi-Hand Blackjack is that Multi-Hand Blackjack is played with multiple hands of cards whereas regular Blackjack is played only with one. Multi-Hand Blackjack is played with five standard 52-card decks and each deck is shuffled after each game.

It almost seems as though Multi-Hand Blackjack is structured almost entirely to the benefit of the player. Consider some of the rules. First, if the dealer's hand equals more than 21 (called a "bust") then the player automatically wins all the hands being played. Also, if the player receives a face card and another card with a value of 10, giving the player a classic "Blackjack" 21, then he or she wins that hand but gets to continue on playing in an attempt to win the other hands as well. If the dealer and the player end up with the same hand (called "push") or both end up with a Blackjack, then the player redeems the amount wagered. These are only a few of the rules that make Multi-Hand Blackjack a more than valuable experience for the player.

If the first card dealt to the dealer is either an Ace card or a card with a value of 10, then the dealer is allowed the check for Blackjack and the player has the option of taking out Insurance. If he or she chooses this option, and the dealer does indeed have twenty-one, then the insurance bet is paid out at a 2:1 ratio.

So if you're looking to add a little variety into your standard Blackjack experience, try playing a hand or five of Multi-Hand Blackjack and introduce some new rules and new experiences into your life.
